Funchal was nice - attractive setting - plenty of shops - did the toboggan - nice - not that bad a queue bit odd that all the kids ended up in the madeira tasting room - mind my lad enjoyed his !
port not much to talk about - little in town either - when on a trip to the caldera - interesting trip - saw a lot of very attractive scenary - but we couldnt get into the area which was a big disappointment - then we just kind of drove around with our guide who was doing his best
thats Gran Canaria - no organised trip - just did a sightseeing open topped bus - shouldnt have bothered - big enough town - shops and stuff - big shopping area near the port
thats Santa cruz de tenerife no tour went into town as it was sunday only 1 out of 5 shops open - we were close to the centre of town I guess - attractive looking real quiet though
tour on tram and coach not docked close to centre of town almost under the april 25 bridge (bit noisy) - but good shuttle buses (as at Funchal) - nice large town shops architecture etc trip good on tram going round old town - but the bus part seemed to go to places we ended up going past in the boat coming in and out - seemed a bit of waste of time really
Port area not much - small shopping centre few restaurants nearby - lively lunch scene with lots of seafood - looked popular - not much else nearby (that we saw)
went on trip to Santiago de Compostela - attractive drive - entertaining guide - very good - went to the parador for snacks, but the queues to get in were so long they elected not to go in - maybe a mistake as could have seen that when we turned up and gave folks the option of queuing at that point and missing the snack in the attractive parador - after a while hanging around in the drizzle, we left the group and queued anyway and actually got in within about 45 mins - couldnt spend that long inside but worthwhile
