We visited in Seattle 2 days before sailing. Rent a car and drive to Mount Rainier... it is BEAUTIFUL... We also dined on top of the space needle... on a clear day like we had, the scenery is breathtaking. Food was delicious, but expensive.
In Juneau we took an excursion which included a Tram ride to Mt Roberts and a hiking exploration. Our guide was excellent.. and again, a beautiful view.
We love Ketchikan. The lumberjack show is fun, especially for children. It is a 5 min walk from the cruise ship. We wandered around the town on foot, enjoying watching the Salmon jumping all over the place, surprised to see jelly fish and starfish in the water. A pretty town, lots of little trinkety shops, but friendly people.
A trip to Butchart Gardens is a must! While we visited we saw the sunken gardens before sunset, followed by the rest of the walk where paths were filled with little lights. On our visit there was a bandshell concert. We chose to keep walking to smell the roses as the music was easily heard . The bookshop was filled with nice choices. The bus driver was witty and gave us nice pieces of information about Victoria. He had extra time so took us though Chinatown. Hanging floral baskets graced the streets. A beautiful place tovisit.
