Ketchikan is a nice city. Make sure you stop and pick up some of the caramel popcorn across from the tram that takes you up to the lodge. The view up there is great and worth the trip. There is also a boardwalk there that takes you through some quaint buildings where the souvenirs are reasonably priced for authentic art from the area. Wish we would have had more time there.
We took a whale watching shore excursion here and saw a triple breach. Juneau is probably the place to get your authentic Alaska souvenirs. There are a lot of different options here. Again wish we had more time there.
By far our favorite city. Skagway is the place to be. Skagway shows you what it was truly like to live back in the old days and has lots of options for different types of souvenirs. We took the mushers dog sledding experience in skagway and liked that very much. You'll get to hold some sled dog puppies here. The only complaint here was that we wished the ride on the sled was longer. It was a lot shorter than what we thought it would be. If you have time take the train ride to the top as well,
If Skagway is the place to be, Prince Rupert is the place not to be. If your looking to just go for a walk Prince Rupert is for you. Make sure you buy any souvenirs prior to getting here, because they don't have much other than art work from natives in the area. You will see bald Eagles here, which is nice. If you have the money, make sure you take a shore excursion here, otherwise you'll probably be bored.
