Port is close to town. The city has lots to offer and is easy to get around. A couple of days is really not enough but Chinatown, Stanley Market and Changhi prison are must sees. Singapore is very safe and you are fine to wander around at night. The shopping is good. The whole atmosphere is very pleasant with plenty to see and do.
We had one day in Ho Chi Minh. The port is quite close to town. We booked a trip to the Cu Chi tunnels for the day which was great. It was a good way to get out of the actual city and see the countryside. The traffic was unbelievable with bikes, cars, and motorbikes everywhere. The countryside is beautiful. There was a torrential downpour in the afternoon and so the city sightseeing had to be abandoned. However, i would like to go back there to experience some more of this interesting city.
Another lovley place. We visited Marble Mountain and then went to Hoi An to see the old town and experience some of the history of Vietnam. China Beach was beautiful and Hoi An needed much more than a day to do it justice. It is a safe environment with plenty to see and do.
We have previously been to Hong Kong and are not big fans. It is a very frantic place iwth a real emphasis on shopping. However, we went on a shore excursion to Macao for the day and it was brilliant. Lunch at the revolving restaurant on the tower, St. Paul's cathedral facade, the casinos and the goddess of mercy were all highlights. The ferry trip itself was a great experience. We would love to go back there.
