We walked on our own to Old Town and had a great time wandering through the shops and restaurants. Bargaining was a lot of fun. Look for the bracelets with the real scorpions in them. I didn't bargain hard enough and paid 4 euros each.
The tour of secrtet antiquities in Metropolis and Claros is not for everyone, but if you are a secret archeologist you will love it, especially Claros. These are Roman ruins that are just being excavated and are unlocked just for you!
Can you go to Egypt and not see the pyramids? The problem is that everyone else is also there and there is a lot of panhandling. You can ignore it, or participate and laugh about it later.
We did a panorama of the city and this gave an overview which was well worth the cost. It took a lot out of us, but you did see it all. My only regret was that we didn't go inside the library, but if they let us in, they probably would never have gotten us out.
