Amazing to be in two continents in one city. Turkey was my biggest surprise. The country is beautiful, but not outdone by its people. We found the Turkish people to be extremely nice! Istanbul is a typical large city with traffic jams and all of the other inconveniences. The Blue Mosque, Topopki Palace and Haiga Sophia Mosque were spectacular. The Grand Bazaar was overwhelming in its size. I would have liked to spend more time there!
Kusadasi and the countryside were very beautiful and mountainous. Ephesis was incredible. The ruins are reminiscent of the Roman Forum. The highlight of the tour was a visit to the house of the Virgin Mary. It was a very moving and pleasant experience. The house is on a mountain, in a forest like setting that stirs one's thoughts to imagine the Blessed Mother and St. John living in this tranquil setting.
Words are difficult to describe this beautiful and picturesque island. The views of the sea, the colors of blue, and rainbow of colorful flowers and the quaint and picturesque villages and Villa's side by side will live within my mind's eye forever.
