Beautiful! What a pleasant escape from the dirty, commercialized & dangerous port of St. Thomas. Skip the dubious & repetitive watch/perfume/jewelery/liquor shopping, get on the ferry asap & enjoy the day on St. John, one of the gems of the caribbean.
Nothing much to write home about, have visited here 3 or 4 times. Don't bother with the island tour or Orient Beach- nothing special at all, be it French or Dutch. More shopping with deals little better, if at all, than one can find at home on the internet or at a good retailer. Suspect health standards in their food prep, avoid eating on this island.
Nothing but a cool name & a commercialized port developed by Carnival where they try to contain you in their walled port zone. Everybody goes to margaritaville & sits around getting drunk by a mediocre swimming pool. Stay on the ship.
Old, tired, expensive. Don't take a cab- filthy & drivers with bad attitudes. The customs was good- one of the most efficient we've experienced, though they took to screaming at people in line that had inadvertently formed a second line where they didn't want one. Back to reality, I suppose.
