With between two and three million people in its metro area, Acapulco can seem overwhelming. However, once out into the country, we enjoyed a stop at a location dedicated to preserving sea turtles, and then a thrilling lagoon excursion, where we saw exotic birds and animals. We finished our tour at the botanical gardens of the university, high above the city.
The harbor, with its rock formations remains enchanting. However, the growth of the formerly small seaside village has transformed it into an overly busy experience, with traffic jams galore.
We traveled to Todo Santos, an hour plus away, to view "Hotel California" and the quaint village. Along the way we saw 500 year old cactus, and not much else.
