Oh Rome, what can you say?? A fabulous city, wished the stop here was 2 days, so much to see and do. One day is just not enough. The Vatican area is of course so beautiful, great restaurants, the sights breathtaking. Be sure and toss a coin in the Trevvi Fountain, you're certain to return to the city.
This stop is just a very different world. I would not stop here again, too bad the major sights here ....you have to deal with the beggars and dirty conditions, hustlers, thieves etc. We would like to see the ship spend only one day here, if that.
This island gets a "10", such a breath of fresh air coming from Egypt. This place is a real gem. They are somewhat British, drive on the other side of the road, speak English, extremely clean, bright and beautiful palace's, villas. We would like to spend 2 days here, so much to see, you will never forget this place.
Another "10" in our book. I was here 30 years ago, fell in love with the city and has not changed my opinion. Exciting, diverse, great food , great hotels, 11,000 taxis so you can always get where you want, quickly. Not to be missed: All Gaudi works, Sagrada Familia, Parc Guell, Picasso museum, day trip to Montserrat. Take the Metro underground trains, gets you everywhere...cheap! Highly recommend Los Caracoles Restaurant, just off the Ramblas....the Ramblas, to be strolled at any time but at night so special, the lights, the people, the vendors, you can buy anything here, rabbits, turtles, chickens, the list goes on. Hotels: 5* for these: Hotel Amister, Silken Ramblas. The port is very close to all downtown areas, about 20 mins or less.
