Rainy and cool day in port. Some of the tours were cancelled as a result of cool weather and high winds. Good day for shopping and dining. Took a taxi($7) from the pier to the Forum Shops. Spent a couple of hours negotiating pricing on a loose Tanzanite stone. Finally settled in at roughly 1/2 the original asking price. Had lunch at Pancho's Backyard. Excellent food, service, and atmosphere. Offers patio or indoor dining. Did a bit more shopping as we walked back toward the pier. Walked to Punta Langousta pier and hopped a taxi back to International, where we had docked. Taxi from Punta L to International was $7 as well.
Another cloudy and windy day. Took a taxi($13) into Playa del Carmen. Strolled along Avienda Cinco. Bought a few Knick-knacks. Weather cleared so we walked a couple of blocks west to the beach. Staked out a couple of lounge chairs at Captain Dave's, ordered a bucket of beer, some salsa and chips and enjoyed the day. Grabbed a cab back to Calica in time to board the boat. Taxis here are $13 each way, so I'd recommend doubling up with another couple or individual to split the cost when possible.
