This was my third trip to Cozumel. We docked after lunch and by the time we got off the pier, it was downpouring. Should have brought that umbrella. We wanted to go to Paradise Beach, but grabbed a taxi and shopped downtown. The stores all have open fronts,and they're all connected to each other, but we had to dodge rain drops and flooded streets, running from shop to shop. We didn't find any amazing deals. Last time I was there I bought a handbag for $20 that was made by a local (I think). This time I didn't see anything amazing. Finally it stopped raining about 4 pm ship time, but it was too late to taxi all the way to the beach for a couple of hours and then pay for a cab back. We found a little piece of beach near the port with palm trees and beach chairs so we camped out there for a couple of hours and enjoyed a drink and people watched. The shopping at the port is very nice, but same stuff in each store. My advice, if it even looks like it's going to rain, bring your umbrella...and bring a backpack...a beach bag is too heavy to cart around. Incidentally, last time we were in Cozumel, we went to Mr Sanchos beach. It was very nice, very quiet, good food, very relaxing. A good place to get away from the madness and enjoy island life.
