So much to see in a short time. Transfer into city 90 minutes from port.We explored on our own which is easy as the centre of Florence is quite small. Very crowded and no time to go inside Uffisi gallery. We went inside the 'Pitti Palace' instead which was lovely. [free entry for UK over 65's by showing copy of passport.]Our tour also stopped in Pisa which was a good option as you only need a short time there.
Just over an hour from port into centre of Rome. We took a tour as it is a large city and it is impossible to see everything in 1 day so you have to choose your trip carefully. Once again a lot of walking and it is very crowded. we queued for 20 minutes to get inside St Peters but it was well worth it as it is very beautiful inside.
Naples is where you have to go if you want to visit the major sites in that area when on a cruise, however it is impossible to see everything so you have to choose carefully which are most important to you! Naples is a very dirty and potentially dangerous place to explore on your own, we went to the museum but went in a taxi 1 way and walked back but kept to the main thoroughfare and didn't venture into back streets. To visit sights further afield it is best to take the organised excursions.
