Nassau - JJCT0124's Rating: 4.0
At Nassau, we opted not to book any shore excursion and took a ferry instead to Paradise Island/ Atlantis. The ferry was $6.00 RT per person and was accompanied with a brief but entertaining tour narrator (who took tips). Upon arrival, you have to walk quite a bit to access the public beach and at times, it can be confusing. The key is to make your way to the Beach Tower, which will then lead back outside to a short pathway, which will end up at the beach. Technically speaking, you cannot enter the hotels of Atlantis (which would get you to the beach faster), but I saw many cruise people who seemed to have taken shortcuts through the casinos to the beach. Atlantis (from what we were able to walk through) was gorgeous. We saw some caves, tunnels, and lots of fish. We also walked across a suspension bridge was had sharks beneath it. All of this was free. We did not participate in Aquaventures, but we think it may be worth it, based on what we could see.
The beach itself was very clear and pristine. The water is so blue! We are from Miami, and we were still very impressed with the beach.
Shopping and dining were average in Nassau. We did not buy anything but walked in the markets, etc..
