Very disappointed. In port for only am and this was Sunday and all shops in area closed or opened very late....as one Cruiser stated that it was refuelling for the ship and not for us! HOWEVER - save money on tours and come out for port and walk around the Marina toward the hotel at the sea front and see the most amazing array if Iguanas, Crabs and Fish. Iggy's literally walked across path in front of us!! Shops are expensive jewellery shops sponsored by Princess........Mmmmm
Wonderful place where we felt our Cruise really started. Our guide was superb.. A wonderful walk around this historical city was excellent. Again there was the stop at the Jewellery store that also offered 'Restroom' facilities???? Fantastic Spanish architecture. Fort was amazing..loved every minute
Only 3 * for the Cristobal Pier-just a Duty Free Shopping experience...BUT this is after the Gatun Locks....the reason why we did the tour.....FANTASTIC to see. HOWEVER do the Embura Village tour from this port...unbelievable!!! Long time on bus ( 1 1/2 hours)and then 30+ mins on dugbout speed boat to this village..But was worth it....Take plenty of photos and join in the traditional dance...eat the freshly cooked chicken or fish and enjoy!
Well organised Independant Tours allowed to offer tours at the port.Small Duty free but we shopped outside in small stores.Did the Banana Plantations...really didn't know there was so much in growing a banana( did the Del Monte one...will really appreciate my banana on toast from now on! Playa Bonita...close to port is amazing when your guide can show you how it existed before the massive earthquake in 1991 ( it didn't exist actually!)Did the Tueguerno Canal boat trip and although we saw some fantastic animals, we were told that this was obviously hit and miss but we managed to see sloths, fruit bats, iguanas and more...so well worth it!
Must be honest and say we only walked around the bay...found some 'over zealous' people offering tours outside the port...some could be intimidated by them....Experienced bad sailing from Costa Rica (which is quite common apparently) and felt unable to do Dunns Fall trip...but other cruisers seemed to have a great time...
