We were in Ketchikan twice. The first time we did the Crab Boat trip. We saw a whale and many eagles. The trip was enjoyable. On the way home, my DH and DGS did the Bear Creek Adventure (zip line) and it was our DGS's favorite. He enjoyed it totally. My DH also had a great time. These were all through the ship.
We were also here twice. The first stop my DH did the Photo Safari and loved it!!!!!! My DGS and I did a float plane trip. We enjoyed this adventure a lot. On the way back we all did a whale watching boat trip that was great. We saw many whales. All trips except the float plane was book through the ship. We booked the float plane trip on the dock.
Skagway is in a beautiful area. However, with three other ships in port at the same time, the streets were very crowded. It is a small town with only 800 people and it just seemed overwhelmed. We did the short train ride here and we saw some beautiful scenery. Our DGS especially enjoyed the sparkling cider that was served. Very much worth what we paid. We booked this through the ship.
In Haines we did a jet boat river trip. We saw eagles on this trip and the jet boat was a lot of fun. We had a great guide who shared his knowledge and love of the area with us. They served hot dogs that we roasted ourselves and hot drinks. Very enjoyable. Booked through the ship.
