Key West - DJ56's Rating: 5.0

Key West was beautiful. My first time there. We chose to walk around at this port. I wanted to find the Southernmost Point Marker. My mother had her picture taken there around 24 years ago. Her last vacation before she passed away. I brought a pix of her there with me and wanted a pix of myself there. It was a memorable moment for me. It was approx. 1 1/2 miles from where the ship docked. It was quite hot and humid that day so sweated alot! Then just walked around and looked at all of its beauty. Went back to the ship for a late lunch and changed out of my 'sweaty' clothes! Then went back off of the ship and walked around some more. Really enjoyed Key West.

Enjoyed the view of getting into Grand Cayman from our balcony! You tender at this port. Was not a big deal to get your tender ticket and onto the boat we went. I think we even were on the first tender boat. 3 ships were in port that day. Amazing to see all 3 ships together! Booked a stingray city excursion through stingraysailing.com on the internet. Chose them because they have a small number of folks on this excusion. Less than 25 on a catamaran boat. Rode an air conditioned van to the area where we boarded the Far Tortuga catamaran (I think that was the name of the boat!). Stingray city is approximately 4 miles out in the ocean. The water was lite blue and crystal clear. Saw so many star fish and even some lobster. Once we arrived there were many boats. We were given instructions how to treat and handle the stingrays to keep everyone safe. I took many pix and videos once we arrived. I watched everyone before I decided to get into the ocean. It was truly amazing. Such a beautiful place and enjoyed these beautiful creatures. Stingray sailing went out of their way to help anyone who was a little cautious to be around the stingrays. That was me!! I did not hold one, feed one, but I did get up close and enjoyed touching them. Then we went out a little further and snorkeled around for approx. 45 minutes. Even saw an eel which was amazing. Such a beautiful place to snorkel. Before we left we even got to see a starfish up close and touch it. Then we got to see a sea potato which was also neat. It was quite 'pokey' so we didn't touch it. Then back to shore we headed. They served bottled water and fresh fruit. You could purchase beer and/or pop if you wished. We had a wonderful time with stingray sailing. They made sure everyone enjoyed themselves at stingray city and snorkeling. Yes I would choose to sail with them again. They got an A+ from me!

Once again were on our balcony when we arrived in port. Ocho Rios was not what I had expected at all. It was quite hilly and solid green jungle. Absolutely beautiful. We signed up for the Sky Explorer excursion through Carnival. Once we arrived we left the ship and met up with our group. We boarded an air conditioned van and headed to Mystic Mountain. Some of the group on board were also doing Dunns River Fall. I chose not to do that part of the excursion since I had broke my leg last year. We got off and headed towards the Sky Explorer. Just absolutely beautiful. We boarded the chair lift and away we went. I took off my flip flops so I wouldn't loose them!! We were so very high up with an absolutely amazing view of Ocho Rios and the ocean. Just sat back and enjoyed every moment. So many different kinds of trees below us with pods, fruit and even cactus growing out of some type of a tree. Took many pix. They even take your pix while riding up. Once at the top we enjoyed the view, the museum, did not eat at the restaurant, walked through the gift shop, took some amazing photos of the Freedom at the observation deck area and cooled my feet off in the beautiful infinity pool while enjoying the view of the Freedom off in the distance. After watching the Jamaican bobsled ride for awhile we decided to take a ride. Oh my gosh...this was so much fun. I think I screamed the whole way down. It was a 'fun' scream, not a terrified scream! Even enjoyed the ride back up to the top. Could even see some zipliners having fun next to the bobsled track. Would definately rate the bobsled an A+ too! They take your picture here too. Of course had to buy it. My mouth was wide open having the time of my life!! We decided to take the ride down the mountain in the chair lift and then rode back up. Just really enjoyed our quiet time with a beautiful view on the chair lift. Bought a wood carving from one of the venders at the top. So many beautiful flowers to look at also. I rate this excusion an A+ also!! Would definately do it all again. Rode the van back to the ship. Unloaded our purchases. Ate a late lunch and then went to the Tajmahal shopping area and walked around. I just had to buy one of the Jamaican hats with dread locks hanging down. Will make a great Halloween costume one day! Or my college age kids may be borrowing it from me... Yes I definately enjoyed my day in Ocho Rios.
