We took the ship sponsored tours driving by motorcoach to Pompeii. Fascinating, how well preserved these ruins were. Wonderful history lesson. Then on through the Italian countryside to a local farm, where we sampled local wine olives, salami and cheeses all homemade

Rome (Civitavecchia)

We took "Rome Eternal City" tour.After about an hour motorcoach ride from Civitavecchia. we arrived in the heart of Rome with a stop at the coliseum. Absolutely amazing. After stopping at a wonderful hotel for an Italian lunch, we were off to the Vatican.Not from a religious point of view, but, a historical point of view, the grandeur of the entire area is breath taking

Florence is a beautiful city, almost like a living museum. The artwork, statuary and buildings are a site to be hold.Then it was on to the town of Pisa to view it's famous leaning tower. We did not have time to climb the tower, but, a word to the wise, if you are planning to visit the tower, buy you tickets in advance

These next 2 tours were only half a day tours. Probably, the next time we will take full day tours. From Villefranche, we motored to Nice, beautiful scenery, and nice rocky beaches

Same to be said for Provence. Although, we did visit the town of Cassis with it's beautiful fishing port
