St. Thomas - cwb348's Rating: 5+
St. Thomas has always been one of our favorite ports because of its beauty - blue water and green mountains. We highly recommend a tour (not through Carnival) with Sonny Liston (www.sunnylistontours.com), $25pp. He takes you downtown to shop for 2 or 3 hours (your choice), then takes you up the mountains to tour for about an hour, and then to the beach of your choice to swim and snorkel for 2 hours. There were about 30 of us on his tour, and lots of singing, laughing, and good times. We all chose to go to Sapphire beach as had been to Megan's Bay several times before. We all have our own snorkeling gear (from Costco's - great), and the beach and fish were beautiful.

San Juan - cwb348's Rating: 5.0
Had a great day in San Juan with a private tour guide we hired after lots of recommendations on CC. ($350 for six of us) Tony, from Countryside tours (http://www.countrysidetourspr.com/) picked six of us up at the pier in his Lincoln Navigator and drove us to the El Yunque Rain Forest about an hour away. He gave us non-stop commentary about San Juan and its sites and was super informative. The rain forest was beautiful, and we got to hike in the pouring rain for awhile (he graciously supplied ponchos for us and we stayed very comfortable). We toured other parts of San Juan on the way back, also did some shopping after he dropped us off.

Grand Turk - cwb348's Rating: 5.0
Loved this island, although we felt so sorry for the islanders. Hurricane Ike caused much damage last year and although the debris has been cleared, they have a long way to go. There are many outhouses visible, and much of the island has no running water. But the 7 mile, British island is beautiful and interesting. We rented golf carts from Nathan (1 649 231 4856, he doesn't seem to answer e-mails) $80 for the day. They are covered, and hold 4 people comfortably. Be sure to take lots of water and snacks, as there isn't much to buy on the island. There are horses on the road, as well as goats, chickens, cows, and flamingos in their ponds. We found Pillory Beach (look for the Bohio dive shop) and snorkeled with our own equipment. On the way back to the ship we checked out Governor's Beach, but were glad we spent most of the day at Pillory. The islanders are very laid back; you drive on the road (on the left side) and they just go around you. Actually very easy as there aren't that many other cars (gas is $5/gal - we were told to just add one gallon on our way home and that's what we did). Carnival has built a huge complex right at the pier, so you really never have to leave the pier if you're not feeling adventurous. A huge pool, chairs, and lots of beautiful shops.
