St. Thomas is a beautiful island. We grabbed a cab and went shopping. They have excellent deals on jewelry, but the shopping there can get old because it is the same thing in store after store. After shopping we grabbed a cab to Magen's Bay. Magen's Bay is rated 7 out of 10 most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. I wouldn't rank it that high, but it is nice for a few hours. We went to the bay in the afternoon when most everyone had left. There were only a few people there so it was great. Carnival offers the shopping and Magen's Bay as an excursion for $40. You can do it on your own for $15.
San Juan, well that was an experience. Let me add that is was miserably hot that day with no breeze. San Juan could have been better. However, it is partially our fault that it wasn't. We went shopping in Old San Juan first. Then decided we wanted to go to Isla Verda shopping and to have lunch. Our cab driver said she had a better place to eat and go shopping. We are slightly adventurous so we said why not. We had plenty of time so there was no danger of missing the boat. Our cabby ended up taking us to a huge shopping mall. Would have been great if we wanted to shop at Sear's, Old Navy and Macy's on our vacation. Apparently we should have been more specific in the type of shopping we wanted. I recommend going to the Rainforest or the Bacardi Factory. Everyone we talked to loved it.
I was surprise that Grand Turk was my favorite stop. We did the Ultimate Snorkel. The island is windy which makes the water a bit choppy, but we went to two different snorkel stops, and it was great. After snorkeling we went shopping at the port and to Margaretville for lunch and some pool side relaxing. I highly recommend Margaretville. I could have stayed there all day. However, it isn't for everyone. It is very loud with bikini booty shaking contest, but the swim up bar and freshwater pool is wonderful. We went around 3pm so the place had clammed down a little by then.
