Haines: One of our favorite spots. So NOT commercialized compared to all the other ports. Only one or two cruise ships a week (vice four of more a day for the other ports). Neat local folks--all of whom are friendly excited to talk about their town and their personal experiences. We took the bike excursion to the Chilkoot Lake. A relatively easy bike ride, but scenic and the guide was very good. We would do it again.
Sitka: A great place to explore on foot--with some good hiking trails and friendly local residents. A beautiful harbor area. Tender operations (ship to shore and return) were very smooth--great job by the crew--again.
