Day 4 Curacao: We did the Mountain Bike tour.DO NOT do this tour if you have ANY breathing problems. It was about 100 degrees and most of the ride is uphill. You see a fort, hospital and beaches. The views are fantastic but this is a strenous excursion. After the bike tour we went off on our own and toured the island including the hato caves. DO NOT MISS ths Hato Caves!!! They are amazing. The beaches are gorgeous and beautiful don't miss the opportunity to at least see the beaches.
Day 6 Dominica: We did the Champane reef snorkel. It was amazing to see the heat vents from volcanos and feel the hot and cold water. The second snorkel site there was schools of squid and parrot fish eels etc. No wonder it is the top 5 dive sites in the world. We ate at a local restraunt recommended by the crew and it was great. We walked around Rosenau and absorbed the history before returning to our ship.
Day 7 St. Thomas: We did the skyride tour at our leisure and Magen's beach getaway. The view from the top of the sky ride is breathtaking. Great photo opportunity. Also sample the island drink the Bushwacker. Magen's bay was absolutly gorgeous. No wonder it was rated one of the top 10 beaches in the world. Pelican's dive into the bay right next to tourist to get fish it was great. There were schools of fish, tarpon and stingrays to see if you were snorkleing. you can also just float on a mat or swim. But beware there is limited shade here, bring lots of sunscreen, hats and sunglasses. There are showers and changing facility. This was a great relaxing afternoon.
Day 8 San Juan: This was where the cruise ended. We did a post cruise excursion the rainforest. It was great. This is a definate do not miss experience if you are a nature lover. Just a remark about disembarkation this is the first ship we have been on where you don't have to get off the ship by 7am. There is no rushing on the staffs part. It is very easy and organized.LOVED THIS SHIP!!! Can't wait to do this itinary again. We stayed 2 extra days in Puerto Rico and it was worth it. Old San Juan is rich in history and culture. We stayed at teh Marriott Stelleris Hotel even though it was a 4 to 5 star hotel the value you get on a crusie ship can't be beat. We realized this after staying "on land". Cruising is a great value and the food is excellent. it is funny how high your standards become when you start comparing everything to Royal Caribbean ships.
