After checking things out on-line and talking with some crew members, we decided to not take an excursion in Belize. The water there is brown in color. The tender to and from the ship takes quite awhile. Once in port we looked around and did a little shopping. We did not leave the area around the port. I'm sure Belize is quite beautiful, but we didn't see much of it.
We left the ship at 9:00 a.m. and took a taxi to Paradise beach ($19 for the five of us). This beach is very nice. We were one of the first people there. There is no entry fee to the beach. It costs $10 for a person to use the climbing towers/slides, kayak, and snorkel. The snorkeling is a good place for beginners to practice, but there is nothing to see. The waiters who come around let people know that if they are going to be there for while they are expected to order some food or beverage. The highlight was our kids going para-sailing. It was $150 for the three of them, but well worth it. We left about 12:30 p.m. and took a taxi back to the ship. We showered, ate lunch, and then took a taxi($9)downtown to do some shopping, which there is a lot of in Cozumel.
