St. Thomas was a pleasant surprise. We have been there before but chose different beaches and were disappointed in the past. This time we went to Magens Bay and really liked it. It is a lovely bay and if you walk way down the beach you can find a quiet spot which is what we did. There are lots of shade trees for those of us who burn easily and picnic tables and change rooms / washrooms. The water was perfect and it was a nice place to relax, read, swim, etc. We spent most of our day there - just took a cab $12 each and $4 for admission to the beach. We did a bit of shopping back at the port - pretty good shopping in St. Thomas.

We chose a tour - Bumpiing Tours (Levi Baron). I would really recommend Bumpiing Tours - very professionally done. Our guide was Kelvin and he was a really nice guy. They provide beer, pop and water. You bring your own light snack. We chose a more strenuous tour - hiking to Middleham Falls. You should be in decent shape to do this. However, you can choose more moderate tours if you want something less strenuous. We hiked to and from Middleham Falls. I opted not to go into the water there because I am not a strong swimmer but my husband went in and said it was great. Our favourite part was Titou Gorge where they filmed the Pirates of the Caribbean - you put a safely belt / life jacket on and could swim into the cave. It was fantastic. The water is very cold but you adjust to it very quickly - I would not miss Titou Gorge if you go to Dominica. We went to the hot springs as well and they were relaxing - I would have liked more time there. We also opted to do a quick stop at Champagne Reef - it was great for snorkelling. We then rushed back to the ship - it was a jam-packed but fun day. My legs were a little stiff from the hike! This is a lovely island - pre-historic in its appearance and one of our favourite stops.

We knew someone one the island and he came and picked us up and gave us a nice tour of the island. St. John's Cathedral has beautiful views and is a nice spot to stop at. We went to the Atlantic side - a rough surf but very scenic and pretty. We went to Cherryhill and ended up having lunch at The Crane (very pricey) but a lovely hotel with breathtaking views of the water.

St. Lucia was a favourite port of ours. We chose COSOL tours and had Cosol himself and he was an excellent host and tour guide. He took us everywhere and the breakfast he provided was fabulous. We enjoyed trying different foods of the island - quite a nice spread - and banana ketchup - it is delicious. He provided non-stop drinks - beer, rum punch, water, etc. The drive in volcano was fascinating - you could see it steaming and bubbling - very interesting. One of our favourite parts of the tour was the beach between the Pitons - we took a water taxi there and it was something you would see in a magazine. Very good snorkelling. Lunch was warm bread and cheese and it was delicious. WE WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND COSOL TOURS - $60 per person.

We were tired by Friday. We visited the local cathedral in Antigua and we found the locals very friendly. My husband then opted to go off to Dickenson Bay to snorkel and swim. He said it was very crowded and wasn't all that impressed with it. I opted to walk around town and returned to the ship and relax. My husband returned early. When taking taxis here, go up to the taxi stand and join other groups - you save on fees. My husband only paid $3.00 each way to Dickenson Bay. We would try Runaway Bay next time. Since we were tired this really became our sea day!

We took a tour with Thenford Gray Tours and I would highly recommend this tour company - very professional! Why only a "4" rating - my husband had chosen an eco tour - we climbed a volcano. My legs were still sore from Dominica and it just was not a tour I would have chosen. If you like hiking up a mountain - this is the tour for you. My husband loved it - I did not. We had a pleasant driver. I would definitely book a tour with Thenford Gray again - just a different tour. It was also raining a lot that day and very humid - but hey, that's the caribbean and a rainforest hike! The rain was actually nice because it was very humid. I would look forward to a different tour if we get to go to St. Kitts again.
