Took an sbp tour to Berlin. Berlin was a great experience. We saw the remaining part of the wall and checkpoint charlie. Also where the nazi's burned books. The guide Sarah provided a lot of German history. Very interesting.
Beautiful picturesqe town especially the old town. Great for a walking tour. They have wonderful knit sweaters there. Their traditional dessert is made up of peas, barley, and sour milk. My friend insists it's great.
My favorite port ever. Absolutely amazing. Took a SBP tour. The hermitage museum is stunning. So were St. Catherine's palace and the Peterhoff (sp) water fountains. St. Isaac's Cathedral and the church of the spilt blood was beautiful. You have to pay to get photos taken of some tourist sites. Tell your ATM/credit card country you are traveling here or your card will be flagged for the rest of your trip. The older women were very serious and could be scary especially those at customs. The folklore show was very good. Nice brass bands.
I had a great time but I forgot why. I think it was because it was the tour after Russia. Open market was great. Great leather goods plus all important moose magnets and pens. Great Palace. Great churches including the church in the rocks, the lutheran church and the church with the miraculous icon of Mary.
Very friendly people. The blue room and city hall were amazing. Absolutely worth a tour. Tours were at 10, 12, and 2. There was one room made of gold mosaic tile that was brilliant. The Swedish changing of the guards was great but very long. The Swedish guards are not stoic like the British ones. The armory room was great. I wish we saw the Vasa but never got the chance. Everyone who did loved it.
