Friendly but one got the impression that they were new to tourism. The guides really tried hard but seemed to think that one was more interested in their Coca cola factory and their oil refinery than the beauty of the Island,we were taken to a quite nice beach at the end of our tour though where one could have a quick dip.
SCARBOROUGH,TOBAGO was dirty and scruffy, was not impressed at all, lots of people, mostly men hanging around every where with,it seems, nothing to do.Would not like to walk alone there if single female.
"The spice Island",well lived up to it's name.A beautiful Island, clean and friendly where the aroma of Nutmeg and Cinnamon really does fill the air.The tour here was informative with the guide very interested in telling us about the spices and fruits that abound here, they are obviously very proud of their Island
Not quite but almost as bad as Tobago. Our trip was a boat ride around part of the Island,it was quite a small boat that was small and filled with diesel exhaust fumes most of the time.Went to a small quite dirty beach of black sand,so hot that one could not walk bare foot on it !.The only interest here was to see the set used in the film "Pirates of the Caribbean".We returned to the Ship quite bored.
A very pleasant Island with very friendly folk,we noted that they seemed a little "louder"than the people on other Islands. Our tour took us around part of the Island,to the basin of the Volcano and to the botanic gardens which was very colorful. It was clean and tidy every where and only at one stop were we pestered by vendors, our guide warned us before we alighted from our bus,so it was no problem.
This French Island stands out from the others as it is very European, even the houses are in European style, the roads are of the same standard, still as they are part of the EU (which does seem rather daft to us)money for the upkeep of the Island comes from the EU. Our guide was enthusiastic and quite knowledgeable, especially on the social side. They had just finished a three week general strike which had hit the tourist industry hard as we were the first cruise ship there for two and a half months. The second part of our trip was VERY disappointing,it was a trip out in a glass bottomed boat to see the coral reef, however the reef was completely dead with few varieties of fish to be seen,it was especially sad because we had paid extra for this tour.
