We walked out of the port area and purchased a city bus ticket for $3.00 return to Eagle Beach. Within 20 minutes we were on the beach. We found the beach to be beautiful and very clean. Eagle Beach is very long so although it can get crowded, you still have lots of space. There were umbrellas and chairs for rent here as well. There are a lot of little markets close to the cruise port that made for interesting browsing. The prices were very reasonable with no pushy vendors,
We purchased a shuttle ticket to go to Altos de Chavon. Tickets are available from the kiosk outside the port area. Tickets were $7.00 per person for a return trip which is very reasonable. We wandered around the village for a little more than an hour and got back on the ship. The views are lovely, but there is not a whole lot to see there. We found the employees selling the tickets did not know what they were doing. The end result was chaos and angry yelling people.
I found Grand Turk to be very dirty and extremely crowded with two ships in port. I don't think people riding horseback should be around where others are swimming. A horse did her business in front of me then went in the water. Next time this stop is on my cruise agenda, I will stay on the ship.
