Lahaina Walking Tour Rating: 5.0 out of 5+
Monday, we headed out after our breakfast for a bus tour to Laihaina, Maui. What I can’t figure out is why the ship doesn’t dock in Lahaina, as other cruise ships do; probably because they make a lot of money bussing passengers to Lahaina each week. This bus driver was very pleasant, and described the scenery to us on the way there. We had fun seeing the art galleries, ate at a wonderful restaurant Cool Cats, where we had the best onion rings we’ve ever eaten, and $4 mango margaritas. We visited the famous banyan tree, and enjoyed the town, the ocean view, the Hawaiian shaved ice, and the trip as a whole.

If it’s Tuesday, it must be Hilo. We walked off the ship and took a free shuttle to the Farmer’s market, walked the main street for a couple of hours, went into the shops along the ocean area, ate some ice cream, and caught a cab back to the ship.

After the buffet breakfast, we headed out for our Kauai excursion to the Waimea Canyon, on an air conditioned bus. Our driver was very knowledgeable, and gave us a good description of the scenery along the way, stopping for us to buy souvenirs, use restrooms, and get refreshments. We even saw a small blowhole, and a lot of wild roosters along the road. The “Grand Canyon of the Pacific” was amazing, and we thoroughly enjoyed the view. The restrooms were not the best, so I advise using one on the last stop before the Canyon.
