We arrived a few days early. We visited shops at the Strand. We had dinner at Landry's and Fisherman's Warf. Both were excellent.

We did not book an excursion for Roatan. We did visit the shops near the pier. Once outside of the pier area, the local vendors hound you to shop with them. From the ship, the area look lush and green. If we visit Roatan again we will need to try an excursion.

City Tour Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

We booked the city trolley tour. The tour director was very knowledgeable about the city and history of the area. We had two young men (dressed like pirates) that followed the trolley and had mock sword fights. We tours the One Barrel rum distillery and a green house with local plants. The rum distillery was small but had great samples. If you go try the One Barrel Rum and Cream Rum. I should have bought some. The city is divided into the north (wealthy) and south side (poor). Belize has the worst roads I've ever seen.

Mayan Ruins Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

We book the Mayan ruins tour. We traveled on an air conditioned buss to the ruins site. Margarita was out tour guide. She was very friendly and knowledgeable about the Mayan culture and history. We toured the ruin site, after being bathed in insect repellant. After the rain, the mosquitos will carry you off if your not protected. After the tour, we were allowed a short time of shopping and reboarded the bus. We traveled to the opposite side of the island and stopped at a beautiful beach area. After a few minutes of shopping and photographing the sea, we left and were returned to the pier. The shopping at the Internation Pier was good with several shops near by.
