In Nassau we walked around the shops to the right of the port, DO NOT GO LEFT OF THE PORT, a fellow cruiser was assaulted and robbed for walking the wrong direction into a shady part of town.

The shops are the junk you expected to find, we went to Senor Frog's and drank heavly until it was close to the time to get on the ship. Many of the new friends we sailed with said they found a cab or bus driver and paid them about $60-80 to drive them around the island and show them the local gems, and they all said it was amazing, so try that, we will next time.

If you want to enjoy the day, get off the ship as close to 0700 as possible in the morning, it took us 1.5 hours to get off the ship around 0930 since they only had 1 tender boat making the trip. We went directly to barefoot beach and had an amazing day. We snorkeled with rays and a shark, found conch's and starfish etc. The nature trail was a lot of fun and a nice quite walk, a few people walked to the "other" side of the island and reported it was empty of people but had HUGE beaches with wildlife everywhere, they said they only came back around the rest of us to get food and to leave the island. Food is provided the same as the ship, it was BBQ for us and just as good as on ship dinning. The shops are the typical junk you'd expect but a few nick nac's were nice to buy. They offer teen tours for boating and snorkeling, a water adventure land that is $20 a person for huge blow up water slides etc, and the normal ocean kayaking, glass bottom boats and all the other water sports you'd expect for charge. I wish we had more time on the island, it is truly beautiful.
