Auckland
Port Rating: 5+ out of 5+

Auckland, New Zealand-----We arrived a day early and were able to enjoy their celebration, which is akin to our 4th of July. There were street performers and a flurry of activity in and around the Prince Wharf. I would highly recommend that you arrive a day early, if possible, so you can relax prior to starting your cruise.

Tauranga
Port Rating: 5+ out of 5+

Tauranga, New Zealand-----This is a very pleasant city. There is a nice beach adjacent to the cruise ships pier and you could take a beach towel and enjoy some time there. We walked approx. ½ mile into town. This is a very nice town with many small shops. Sheep’s wool and lanolin products are bountiful here.

Dunedin
Otago Peninsula and Yellow-Eyed Penguins Rating: Not Rated

Dunedin, New Zealand-----We took the “Otago Penguin and Dunedin Panorama Experience” ships tour 5 hours. It starts with a drive thru the city while pointing out various places of interest, and then stops at the Botanical Gardens for a bathroom break and an opportunity to walk thru the gardens which are beautiful. The highlight of this tour was the Yellow Eyed Penguin Reserve. We were able to walk down to a bunker that was on the same level as the Penguin’s habitat. One caveat is that you descend down a winding path, but, you ascend up 85 steps which might be a challenge for some.

Sydney (Australia)

Sydney, Australia-----First I want to relate that if you are on the port side of the ship, your view will be of the Sydney Opera House. The first day we purchased a Hop on Hop off pass with Captain Cook Cruises. They are located at the front of the pier and stop a 8 locations. We got off at the Taronga Zoo. They have lots of animals, reptiles and birds. Very worthwhile. After the zoo, we went to the aquarium, which was large and was 3 stories. Lots of different sea life in the various glass fronted enclosures.
On the second day we walked around the circular quay. We walked through the Botanical Gardens, then on to the Sydney Opera House. We did not tour the opera house, but we wished we had. We then walked downtown and bought some opal jewelry.

Cleland Wildlife Park Rating: Not Rated

Adelaide, Australia ----- We took the Adelaide and Wildlife Park ships tour 5 hours. We were driven through the city up to Mt. Lofty for great photos. We then went to the Cleland Wildlife Park. They have many of the animals you would expect to see in Australia. My wife was able, for a fee, to hold a Koala and have her photo taken. We were also able to walk in an open field and feed kangaroos by hand.
