Miami is a paradise! It has the cultural blending of the US and Latinos, which is amazing. Miami Beach (as does the rest of Miami) offers the best in restaurants, bars, shopping and walking around. Every cuisine is represented in this city that sparkles! There are all sorts of Malls for every pocket as well. Do take a tour: the city is beautiful, large and fun!
We have been here before but if you haven't, do take one of the many tours they offer! La Romana is a nice tourist town but also a "local's" town that goes about it's 'business-as-usual'. Tours to Santo Domingo are worth the two-hour drive. The people are friendly but the peddlers can be annoying at times so don't heed to them. There is good police watch so don't worry. The port is beautiful and the climate is wonderful!
We took a private tour that accommodated to our time/needs and our large 16 person group. They took us to the different areas of the city and the tour guide (a local) explained all the heritage of the country, the food and the political aspirations. The people are friendly and very nice. it is a beautifully quaint and colorful city.
