The Carnival set up on the beach right off the pier is great. Daunting to arrive seeing thousands of chairs aligned, but the experience itself was fine. We spent the day on that beach, snorkeling right there to great effect. A little more time would have been nice.
Didn't get off the ship. Nothing in the excursion descriptions tempted, and certainly nothing to see from the pier. Table mates reported dull excursions and very pushy locals. We did manage to watch part of a baseball game from our balcony through binoculars. We would advise Carnival to delete this port and add more time in Grand Turk and Curacao.
Good tour with the semi-sub to see the sunken ship. Then a long drive around the island in a bus. We usually do that part with a taxi, and would probably chose that option again. Given the length of the tour though, it was a pretty good value.
Beautiful architecture, history and walkability. Easy walking access from the ship. Great shopping from high-end to where the locals go. We visited the Maritime Museum and the Slave Trade Museum, very informative and well done.
