Snorkeling Rating: Not Rated

This was by far the best tour we did during our cruise. Kat, Chip and Kevin from Cayman Eco Adventures were really easy to communicate with, reliable and made sure we get to the stingrays as quickly as possible, which meant way ahead of everyone else. Snorkeling was wonderful as well and the trip to starfish beach definitely worth it. Water and sodas were included in the price as well as transportation from the port to the yacht club and back to the port or seven mile beach if you wish.

Snorkeling Rating: 2.0 out of 5+

Really not a good tour. We booked it via Costa (Blue Channel snorkeling, locally handled by MC Tours) and most of what we did was wait. On the ship. In the port. And finally a whole hour (!!) in a beach bar to get on the boat. Snorkeling itself was OK, but not great. The water was not really clear. On the way back we could see lots of plastic trash floating in the water, brought by one of the storms. Really nasty and makes you really think about how much waste we all produce and what happens to it in the end.
Next time, I would definitely book another tour or even preferably organize something independently.

Mayan Ruins Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

We booked a trip to Tulum, handled by Sun and Fun Tours (?). Unlike our Roatan snorkeling trip this was relatively well organized although there was a hickup with the ferry and we again had to wait for quite some time on the ship. Keep in mind that a LOT of people want to go on the tours to the Mayan ruins and since they are on the mainland of Mexico it takes quite some time to get there. We chose Tulum over Chichen Itza because the trip was considerably shorter and in hindsight it was a very good choice. We had a German tour guide which made it comfortable for us and after a short tour with her through the ruins we had plenty of time to swim at the small beach, further explore the ruins on our own and have lunch in the souvenir area. Careful if you want to pay in USD, you definitely will get ripped off. If you mind then better change a few USD to pesos and pay local prices. Since we had only a small lunch we could live with 10 pesos = 1 USD.

Everglades Tour Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

Great ending to a great cruise. Again, we managed to leave the port quite early and were the first ones to arrive at the Everglades Safari Park. Great airboat ride with Gus, even though it was a BIG airboat with 40 people on it it was great fun. Saw a couple of gators, followed by a little alligator show with the option to hold one of the baby gators (holding of alligators was USD 3 per person). Afterwards we had plenty of time to wander through the park and try the gator bites (USD 9 for a tiny portion, but worth the fun). No, they do not taste like chicken, rather like fish.
