This was our 1st port, being that we have traveled many times to Disney and the area.. we decided to stay on board and enjoy the sun. It was a great day to sit on the lounger. We were treated to a show by the dolphins in the bay. There were several things to do in this port, other members in our party went to Cocoa Beach. They enjoyed themselves as they got to shop and do the beach. They did recommend this excursion if your looking for a laid back at your own pace excursion.
For those who do not book an excursion, there is not much in port other than shopping. We did Balmoral Island. You 1st had to walk from the ship to the boat that took you to the island.. it was a bit of a walk, and not good for those who are disabled or in a wheel chair. Once at the island the beach was beautiful... it was like our own private island.. we had a great beach, they had a restaurant and bar which you could use your sail and sign card so no cash was needed... but the prices were crazy expensive.. for a tiny turkey wrap and can soda it was $20. Eat on the ship! There is also the dolphin encounter and sting ray encounter at the same location. Others in our group did the dolphins and really enjoyed it. You can also rent a jet ski or go parasailing from this location.
This is a commercial port and there is nothing within walking distance, you need to purchase and excursion or rent a taxi to do anything... but there is a small amount of shopping right here as well as Senor Frogs. I took my Nephew to the Sea Explorer which is a semi submersible boat... a 15 minute bus ride to Port Lucaya then a good hour on the boat.. it was great.. we seen all kinds of fish including a shark. After our excursion we had at least 2 hours of shopping which was nice and relaxing.. there is also a casino in this area.
