In Nassau we took a taxi to Ardastra Gardens and enjoyed walking around the small gardens, seeing the animals and taking in the marching flamingo show. Our driver picked us up at the designated time and dropped us off in downtown Nassau for some shopping. From there it was a short walk back to the ship.
We booked a ship excursion in St. Thomas, touring around the island in an open-air truck and making a brief visit to St. Peter Greathouse and Botanical Gardens before returning to Charlotte Amalie to do some shopping.
We made a stupid mistake with our tour in St. Maarten. We'd booked an excursion through Viator for 10:00 a.m. Upon arriving at the designated meeting place 15 minutes before the tour, we learned that we were an hour late! The ship was on Eastern time, but St. Maarten was an hour ahead. Had we been on a ship excursion, we would have operated on ship time and all would have been well. I never saw or heard anything onboard the ship to indicate that the time would be different--but I didn't ask either. Mea culpa. Next time I'll be sure to ask more questions! With 6 ships in port that day, the place was absolutely packed. We decided to head back to the ship for awhile, and we never made it into the city. It may have turned out for the best; my husband wasn't feeling well that day, so the excursion might have been too much for him.
