This was better than expected. The tendering to Lahaina went well. The submarine was very fun and although there were not a huge amount of fish to see on it, the guide we had was excellent. Her humor was appreciated and her knowledge of the sea and its creatures was perfect. We also later went on the Catamaran and it was perfect.
This was a fantastic experience. We had never done the zip line and we both LOVED it. We had a great group from the ship and one of the people on our tour was a professional photographer. Had had a go pro on his helmet and brought his 35mm camera along and took some fantastic photos of all of us. We had 2 great tour guides (one was Alan) and they made it a perfect excursion. After we got back to the ship our photographer friend brought us each a CD with the photos on it. Such a memorable experience for sure.
Hilo is a very plain port, especially after the first two ports we visited. We had been here before. We enjoyed touring the Tsunami museum. We spent 90 minutes in the place, very interesting and sad. We walked around the town and took the bus back to the ship, which drove about 90 minutes throughout the city, so we got to see a lot of it.
While many people say Honolulu is too crowded or touristy, I just love this city. It is beautiful, with great beaches and so much to do. We did get on the hop on hop off bus and found that traffic really was too horrible in town for this make any progress, so we got off and walked. Had a great dinner at Ruths Chris Steak House, Awesome Mai Tai's at Duke's and we spent one extra night after getting off the ship at Outrigger Reef, a great room for a fairly good price. We also drove up to Disney Aulani Resort which is about 40 minutes from Waikiki. It is beautiful!
