CANNES we walked and explored a little then went by train to Nice and returned on the frequent (30 mins) service.

LIVORNO (Florence / Pisa) we went by train to Florence and experienced some delays but it was easy given the shuttle bus from Ship to Livorno drops you for free by the Tourist Info shop.
In Florence itself we used the open top tourist bus and this allowed us to view the city from its high point and get great photos. For ourselves nice / pretty but not special hence the rating.

Rome (Civitavecchia)
Pantheon Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

A walk through after a great explanation on the outside so we could appreciate what we would experience, the radio transmitters remove the need to stand near your guide (ours Paulo was fantastic). With clear times / location to meet after 20 minutes of free exploration.

Spanish Steps Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

A walk from Hard Rock Cafe our start point was an introduction to Rome history before arriving at the top of the Spanish Steps. Through after a great explanation at the steps top we could appreciate what we would experience. With a steady progress to the bottom we then had clear times / location to meet after 20 minutes of free exploration.

St. Peter's Basilica Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

Amazing place in terms of its scale and decoration / adornments. It's a bit of a procession given the need to direct all the many tourists (of course that's ourselves) in a one way scheme around the Basillica. Again all the explanations were given ahead of going to the entrance and we had about 1 hour free before our final meeting point to head for our return coach to the ship.

St. Peter's Square Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

Before we arrived here our guide explained the route over the Bridge of Angels and the history of Vaticans establishment + points along the way that would afford good photo opportunities. Having the build up was useful and avllowed the talking to be spaced out and not be continuous.

Trevi Fountain Rating: 5+ out of 5+

A confusing and chaotic place so always having the radio transmitter on helped us all know we were free to roam & take our time for photo opportunities and the mandatory coin throwing. We were warned about pickpockets but not so as to alarm or scare - just the need to sensible about having coins to hand and not start opening wallets & purses with 100's of euros / dollars showing.
A MAGICAL PLACE for revisiting on a more relaxed & quieter season.

Kotor
Port Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

Simply got the tendered boats after the initial scramble for designated early landings (you've got plenty of time) then said no thank you to the many taxi drivers / tour operators and walked into Kotor Old Walled Town. It's a lovely clean place with old world charm, we especially loved the brass band playing in the square & seeing a wedding procession.
NOTE - tendered ports like this had very frequent sevice between ship & port and you could easily return for food / drinks on the ship and return to Kotor frequently if you wanted.

Venice
Port Rating: 5+ out of 5+

VENICE - this was the JEWEL of our cruise as the ship arrives for approx 2.30pm mooring sailing passed St Marks Square and the frenetic water taxi / gondola world of the Grand Canal. We opted to take the public transport water bus to St Marks Sq then explore on foor to find the Rialto Bridge and find ourselves back near Ferrovia Rail Staion which is near the Cruise terminal, with a 1 euro cost to get you within 500m of the ship.
This was also our opportunity to enjoy a local meal on the grand canal opposite the Ferrovia at reasonable cost. Be warned that meal / drink prices can appear reasonable near St Marks Sq or Rialto Bridge, but beware of 'cover charges' as USA people did report a 150 euro cover charge for drinks only !!
The walking option of getting lost and confused the 1st day allows for a more relaxed morning of getting lost and exploring the 2nd day, well it did for us and we simply used the 1 euro people mover to find a post office then walked and went photo crazy. Venice is OUR MUST RETURN DESTINATION.

Dubrovnik
Port Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

DUBROVNIK is the only port of call that isn't in the Euro zone so local currency (Krunas) is required. We called into the tourist info / shop on the quayside and purchased Dubrovnik Tourist Cards in euros (32 for 2) which includes a bus ticket valid for 24 hrs and entry to walk the walls of Dubrovnik Old Town. The buses were frequent both ways and took approx 15 mins. We used our ATM card to obtain approx 250 Krunas (30) and this was all we needed for our beer / wine / t-shirt & ice cream purchases and we are still left with 20 worth if we return which we would quite happily.

Naples
Port Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

NAPLES we had choices of Amalfi Coast / Sorrento / Capri and more, but once off the ship found regular ferry service within 300m to Capri and enjoyed the day of free exploration and would recommend Anacapri and the chairlift to the highest point for stunning views.
Note train and local buses only 1.80 euros per journey and ferry return from Naples to Capri was approx 70 euros for 2 people. We booked a specific return ferry but exchanged without problem for a earlier return ferry only paying the small difference in quality of ferry / speed.
RATING - for the amazing views from Capri Marina to Capri by train and Anacapri quiet charm and stunning views from the peak reached by chairlift at a worthwhile cost of 10 euros.
NOTE - this was in fact the 4th port of call on our cruise, just sequenced wrong in this review.
