Ketchikan
Saxman Native Village Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

This excursion was very informative and interesting as well as being accessible for someone who is handicapped. The village has transportation available for those whose walking is limited. Seeing the young people being taught the dances, songs, language and culture of their native tribes was encouraging to see. Their dancing exhibition was beautifully done; learning about totem pole making was really interesting; and seeing a totem carver at work brought it all to life. Highly recommend this excursion!

Culinary Tour Rating: 4.0 out of 5+

I am assuming this refers to the salmon bake? We did go to the salmon bake and it was in a very nice setting, well protected from the elements and plenty of food to eat that was a big variety of salmon, other fish, chicken, salads, side dishes and dessert.

Mendenhall Glacier Rating: 2.0 out of 5+

The Mendenhall Glacier is too far away to see very well and the cruise ship does two days getting us really close to the glaciers and bringing aboard a park ranger to explain many interesting facts about the glaciers. This excursion was largely a waste of time and money.

City Tour Rating: 2.0 out of 5+

Skagway has so little to offer, I would not get off the ship to see the town. I understand that the train ride, whale watching and hiking are good if one is up to it physically.

Cultural Show Rating: 2.0 out of 5+

While this show was somewhat entertaining at the expense of a couple of people from the audience, it was sorely lacking in story line or history. I would not waste my time or money on the "Days of '98"
