Our tour was arranged through a private company who we found at a travel show over the winter. PM me and I'll send you their name. They arranged private tours of St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican Museum on our first night (and even showed us a great little place for dinner that night), major sites in Rome and lunch and dinner on our second day and night, transfers to and from the airport, apartment accommodations, and cruise terminal, and tours in Sicily and Kusadasi.
Our tour was arranged through a private company. Our driver was very personable and enjoyable to listen to. We were picked up in Messina where our ship doced and we started with Mt. Etna and ended up having lunch in Taormina. Wonderful little beach resort town.
We wound up arranging private transport from some retired taxi drivers outside the port area. The Acropolis was great though it is under renovation and many of our pictures included some of the structural supports and building machinery. However, the highlight was the Acropolis museum which collects and preserves artifacts found at the site. Athens as a city was not impressive.
My parents visited Ephesus a few years ago and their descriptions of how well preserved and detailed this site is didn't do the real thing justice. If you wish to experience the model for an ancient Roman city, this is the place to go.
Sirince Village Rating:
Very nice town, wish we had a bit more money to spend there.
Terrace Houses Rating:
As part of our tour of Ephesus we visited the terrace houses which were wonderful restorations of the homes in which the ruling class lived.
