Very pretty with lots of little shops and bars. Beach approx. 5 minute walk from the port, sea crystal clear with lots of little fish to see through goggles if you like that kind of thing.

This was part of our 'Gladiators Excursion' but with the tour guide. It was a bit rushed and would have liked to have spent more time looking around. The guide was informative but a bit too speedy so we felt like we had to run to keep up as opposed to taking in our surroundings. Quite a long coach journey about 1 hour 20 minutes, hardly any toilets around Rome and not enough time to stop anyway, so not ideal for little ones.

We found this in our free time and just looked inside it, very cool in the hot weather and very pretty.

Part of the tour of Pisa, did not do much, just took some photos, very pretty.

Leaning Tower of Pisa Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

Lovely tour, taken by guide and then left to explore for an hour. Not enough time to go up the tower as you have to book this in advance, but plenty of time to take a look at the tower and other 2 buildings, take photos etc. There are lots of little market stalls selling bags, purses, souvenirs etc. along the way so the time goes very fast. Restaurants and cafes are also close by, so refreshments are availabl.

Not a particularly attractive port and nothing very much close by. A few shops as you leave the ship but all a bit run down and basic. Tour buses do wait just outside the port offering tours of Genoa which were apparently very nice, efficient and interesting, but our children had already had enough of historic sights.

If you leave the port and walk towards the main square/street where the shops are, but keep walking through you come to the cable car (you can get a shuttle from the port too), it took us about 15 minutes and you can see the cable car up the rock so know which way to head.We were going to take the cable car up the rock, but when we got there the queue was very long. We were offered a tour by a man who had a mini bus, they take you to each of the areas up the rock you want to see monkeys, st michaels cave & world war II tunnells etc, they park up, let you walk around for 20 minutes and then take you onto the next place. It is the same cost of the cable car but much less walking and the tour guide was very knowledgable. Tourists seem to think they are there to rip you off, but they are not, we personally felt this was the best way to view the rock and it's sites, they do not take any money from you until the end to prove they are not con artists and do wait for you at each stop.

The town was about a 10-15 minute walk, it depends whereabouts the ship ports as to which direction you travel. There is a castle and some other things to see, but we just went for a walk. There is a tram that runs through the town so a novelty if you have never been on one.
