Grand Cayman
Stingray Swim Rating: 5.0 out of 5+

The first and tendered port Grand Cayman gave us a smooth start for our Port Adventures with DCL. The trip with Don Foster (DFD?) out to Stingray City was great, and well organized and informed. The only drawback is perhaps how the company seemed to utterly ignore us as apparently an adult all male couple is uninteresting money wise. They are so wrong, and thus made no tips. But a great experience nonetheless!

Costa Maya
Beach Break Rating: 2.0 out of 5+

I was a little anxious about our shore excursions, interestingly named "Jungle Beach Break", as one our fellow cruisers called Costa Maya "a dump". After we got to the destination, the Uvero Beach Club, we decided to make the best of it. They played loud, ridiculous music that suits a more party oriented crowd than us (we're honeymooners) that would thump painfully even far out at sea. The first 20 yards of the beach water was filled with trash and plastic, and we even observed a floating toothbrush. What saves this from getting a 1 rating is the free included drinks. I suspect the drinks are meant to keep you from getting too observant.

Cozumel
Mayan Ruins Rating: 3.0 out of 5+

We were told the ruins would be great, and they were nice enough. Maybe we had higher expectations of the site itself. The tour guide was informative and good, though ended the tour short and abruptly to our surprise without any lead up to it. What soured this experience first of all is when they cattled us through a photo session obviously meant to sell to families with children. As an two males on a honeymoon couple they basically stopped talking and smile (!) when they lined us up for a picture. Way to set the mood! Also, the driver promptly came up to each party and told us all to tip generously. As you probably can guess, we did *not* buy their ridiculous attempt to sell us a photo, and we tipped accordingly.

Port Rating: Not Rated
What a pleasant surprise! Had we known how good this experience would turn out to be, we would have skipped the excursion altogether. We did the Port Adventure named Walking and Kayak Adventure. Whilst the kayak part was interesting enough (they should rename "try to keep up with the kayak guide"), the walking part was just a walk along a dirt road with some random facts about the Bahamas. We are the outdoorsy type, and living in Norway this would not even come close to be called a "walk" at home. Oh well. Castaway Cay is in itself a wonderful place, and reminds me of an island version of Typhoon Lagoon, our favorite Disney water park. The water at the family beaches is muddier than Serenity Bay, the adult beach. Skip the family beaches if you're a honeymooning couple without children like us, and just stay at Serenity Bay for some well deserved beach time. The prices for renting different gear like snorkeling equipment could have been a bit lower if you ask me, but other than that - favorite port on this cruise!
