Loved it! We got the local bus (for $16 each return) to Mendenhall glacier for the day. Don't under estimate how much time you need here. You can just pop to the view points for the glacier or spend more time so you can hike, watch the bears on steep creek (in salmon season), etc. lots of pep,e rushing through on pre-organised trips but I would spend most of the day just here so you really get to see it all
Cute old fashioned mining town which is worth a short wander. The best bits are hiking around. For a couple of hours you can hike up to lower Dewey lake (and beyond for the fitter) which gets you away from the crowds and really enjoying the scenery. Don't let the first half mile put you off - it does get easier.
For shorter hikes or more kid friendly try smugglers cove which is a gentle stroll through the other side of town. Still keeps you away from the crowds
