I love Juneau! It is a very pretty town, with colourful buildings, and beautiful scenery. Take in the Red Dog Saloon for fun and entertainment, and Tracey's Crab Shack for delicious King Crab. Tip: you can take the city bus everywhere for next to nothing. We took the bus to get as close as we could to the Mendenhall glacier, walked for 30 minutes and were there. Not only was it great to get off the ship and have a beautiful walk, the price was $2.00 each! The locals were also more than happy to act as "guides" while on the bus. A fun, inexpensive excursion!
Ketchikan is cool because part of it is built on stilts. It also has a very active harbor, float planes coming and going, fishing boats etc. Much larger than you would expect with a population around 14,000. We had lunch at the Pirate Saloon, which had good food and a singer to boot! Dolly's is also a fun place to go, an old brothel back in the day with much history. The salmon hatchery is also note worthy.
