We decided not to book an excursion. We walked around Nassau, as the stores were not open until 9:30-10:00 am. We went to the Pirates Museum which was well worth the $24 ($12 per person). Probably the best time we had on Nassau was to attend a church service held on the beach. A local church provided the service. As the time in port was limited we were back on the ship by 12:30. We purchased some of the Tortuga Rum Cakes at their shop.

On St. Thomas we decided to use Godfrey Tours which we booked on our own through their website. Godfrey himself met us at the pier. We then had about 2 hours to ship in downtown St. Thomas. Lots of jewelry stores. We met up with Godfrey at the appointed time to begin our two hour drive around the island. Godfrey was driving one bus and we were in a separate bus (inside the cab with air conditioning, as opposed to being in the open air part of the bus). At each stop Godfrey gave a short presentation about the location and sights. We stopped at a couple of "overlook" photo ops. We spent about 45 minutes at the mountaintop home of the Banana Daiquiri (where we shared one, mm-good). Our next stop was Drake's bench honoring the place where Sir Francis Drake actually had a bench to look over the port to review his ships. Our last stop was Coral Island park for a few minutes for a bathroom stop. Godfrey was an incredibly host. I would highly recommend his services. We had originally booked a six hour tour, including 2 hours on the beach. This was $60 for two of us. We decided not to go to the beach and he refunded $10 of our fee. Very accomodating.

We had visited St. Maarten in 2003 so thus had some knowledge of the island. We took a cab ($3 p/p) from the pier to downtown Philipsburg. One note about taxis on St. Maarten. Cabs are regulated on St. Maarten. You buy wrist bands that have two tabs (one for the outbound and one for the return to pier). You give one to each cab driver. Thus you are not required to use a particular driver or company for your return, thus not on a "schedule". We hired a cab (Tony was the driver, ask for him from any of the drivers in downtown, they all know him or related to him, as he has a lot of siblings) for a 2 hour driving tour around the island. Started in town center and went up the western side of the island to the French side (northern half). He took us by a restaurant, La Vie in Rose in Marigot, where we had eaten on our previous trip.
We stopped at Orient Beach (clothing optional) for a drink break. We then headed back to Philipsburg where shopped for a new camera for me and some gifts for our kids and grandkids. We got some "cigars" that were put in a bag stating "Manufactured in Nicaragua" in order to bring back in the US. We returned to the pier just ahead of raging afternoon thunderstorm. All in all a great time was had.
