This would be our third visit to Skagway and since you can see the whole town in about 30 minutes we decided to rent a car from Avis. We drove through the White Pass to Whitehorse and enjoyed stopping along the way when we felt like it. Our children loved getting ice cream from the General Store in Carcross. They thought it was cool that there was a desert in the mountains. In Whitehorse we were able to go to Wal-Mart to get our oldest some more leggings so she didn't freeze on the ship. We also stopped at the visitor's center and the hydro-electric damn. On the way back to Skagway we saw a lynx and a grizzly just walking on the side of the road, which was very cool! We also stopped and took lots of pictures. We got back to Skagway with enough time to do a little shopping before we headed back on to the ship for dinner. It was an amazing day! Wish we have had time also take the ferry to Haines and explore.

This was our third time in Juneau. We decided to finally take our own whale watching excursion. We chose Rum Runner Charters to take the 4 of us out for a four hour trip. It was the most amazing part of our trip! Chris and his deck hand treated us like we were family. They met us at the ship and took us right to their boat in Auke Bay. We were one of the first boats out for the day, but they were still able to find us whales to watch. We came across a mom and baby feeding. We saw sealions and an eagle on a buoy. Then we saw 2-3 more whales, with one breaching right next to the boat. It was absolutely amazing! Our ride ended with lots and lots of eagles swooping down in the water to grab pieces of beef fat. It was absolutely incredible and worth every penny!

After our whale watch, Chris arranged for a taxi to Mendenhall. We spent an hour there walking out to the glacier/Nugget Falls. The girls loved skipping rocks in the water. We then took a taxi back to the ship and had enough time to do a little shopping before getting back on board. Fun, fun, fun day!

We were amazed to see it sunny and somewhat warm in Ketchikan, as it's one of the rainiest places in the US. Our oldest chose to stay on board and sleep in - so it was just me, my husband and our 11 yo daughter. We walked around the city, finished our shopping and then caught a Duck Tour. Our daughter really wanted to do the Duck Tour. It ended up being pretty darn boring and not what we were hoping for, but it was nice to see more of the town. Wouldn't do it again. After the Duck Tour we got back on board as we did't have a lot of time in Ketchikan.

Victoria is one of my favorite cities so I'm a little biased. Both our kids decided to stay on the ship so it turned in to a date night for mom and dad which was very nice.

Docking time was supposed to be 7:30. We arrived at the dock at 7:30, however, it takes time to tie up the ship, put up the gangways, clear immigration, etc. People were not happy - even though they had been told there would be a delay getting off the ship. I don't know why Carnival doesn't put 8:15 instead. People expected to get off at 7:30 because that is what the time you have onshore is listed as.

This was the only port we had a line to get off on the ship. Not a big deal, it moved rather quickly. Loved that we didn't have to through Canadian customs after getting off the ship. When we were here 6 years earlier on NCL we had to go through customs and it took forever.

We walked in to town taking the waterfront route that was marked by signs. It took about 40 minutes to walk in town and it was a lovely walk with all the flowers, the sun setting and you are on the water most of the way. We spent the rest of the time walking around down town, taking pictures, got rootbeer floats and then watched the street performers on the dock in downtown. We walked back to the ship and called it a night.
