We walked around using a Walking Guide from Frommer to explore. Lovely little town. Had wonderful conch fritters and local beer and tropical cocktail in a cafe overlooking the main street.
Paradise Island we visited by water taxi, but not much open but the views around the 5 ships that were in port that day were amazing.

Took the local tram up to La Laguna the old capital and found a free walking tour offered by the visitors centre which took two hours and took us into some of the old buildings and internal courtyards that we couldnt normally see. Then we walked to the local Market and bought cheese, ham, bread and beer and juice for lunch and sat outside and enjoyed it. Then to a local cafe for coffee and wine and a quick 30 minute trip back to Arrecife.

Took a private tour with Tours by Locals guide Jose Luis with 12 others from CC. Great tour and value for money for 7 hours with terrific guide and driver. He took us to Timanfaya National Park and we watched demonstrations of the heat below us and then we drove around to admire the lunar landscape. Then to El Golfo and lovely little village to see the Green Lake, then to La Geria the wine growing region, so different to anything we had seen before. Then to Las Nievas viewpoint for magic views over Timanfaya and the coast. Lunch was at a lovely little cafe, home made soup, seafood risotto and cakes with a view over the sea. Delicious. Then to Juamos del Agua, the creation of a famous Lanzarotian artist Manrique who carved out a huge lava tube and made it into a restaurant with bar and dance floor. There is also an underground lake with little white crabs and and outdoor seawater swimming pool and amazing underground theatre where they hold concerts. Fascinating.
Excellent tour

Booked another private tour with 6 other CC members to Sintra and Cascais with Top Ten Tours. Very good tour guide Alex and we had a wonderful time first visiting Belem Tower, Monastery of Geronimos and then Belem Pasteleria for portuguese custard tarts and coffee. Then onto Sintra and Pena Palace and walking around the lovely hilly streets.. Also tasted the lovely Sintra delicacies from Pisteria a local cafe where we had lunch. In Cascais we visited the lovely old villa of the O'Neills, Irish sea merchants, and leading citizens of the town. We walked around the town too a lovely little seaside village.
Then back to the ship via the Monument to Portuguese Sailors which is along the river.
Great tour, but hard to hear as no microphone.

Did a tour with 22 other CC members as it was a Sunday and not sure what would be open. We had two minivans and saw all the sights, crossing the runway on the main road between Spain and Gibraltar and watching as the planes took off and the road closed. Then to the highest gun points on the island for wonderful views, Michaels Cave, the Apes Den, Siege Tunnels and finally the Moorish Castle. It was a terrific day and well paced and we thought it was excellent value for money.
