Everybody liked what they did at this port. Excursions averaged 10-12 hours. Folks who took the long drive to Paris loved their experience. The full day tour of the invasion beaches and cemetery was emotional. You needed the full day if you were looking for someone specific or were interested in the history. We took a split tour - 1/2 day of beaches/cemetery and 1/2 day tapestry/Bayeux town visit and felt we got the best of two worlds. Note the full day beaches/cemetery tour had sold out on the internet two months before the cruise date.
This is the quaint little town port. It is also the only Tender port on the cruise. We did this port on our own. Walked to the castle (fortress) and spend a couple of hours exploring the structure, taking in the views, exhibits, etc. ($14). Rest of time was spent walking the streets and exploring the small shops. We had calm seas and the tender transfer was "bumpy". If the seas were slightly rough this port would be skipped. Celebrity needs to do some math - 3 tenders and 2000 guests wanting to get on and off the island leads to 2-3 hour waits. Last folks got to the Island at 11 AM. The line to get back to the ship (1 hour before departure) was 1 hour long. Say the least we did not depart on time.
