The local tourist office run an open top bus from the town square along the coast and this is well worth ther 10 euro cost per person . It takes around two hours and includes a foot tour inside the old town walls
We used the cable car to get up to Thira and then walked down the cobbled path back to the port. The views are stunning but be warned the walk back down takes 40 minutes and you need quite sturdy footwear I wouldn't want to do it in flip flops !!!!!!!!!!
Allow several hours to visit this beautiful city. It is all enclosed in the city walls but be warned most official tourist locations will not take euros you need to change some money to pay to access the city walls and other notable attractions. Cafes and bars etc will gladly take euros it just seems that official locations would only take the local currency.
