A great, friendly, warm overgrown fishing village cum resort community. A very nice beach, crystal blue water, and great local fish dishes overcame the annoyance of tendering in. This is a place to buy fish tacos, drink four beers for ten bucks on the beach, take a water taxi ride, and wander past gentrified shops and restaurants for a few hours. Not much in the way of history or culture here.

This was an interesting port of call. Vallarta is a large working Mexican community of 300,000+, with the historical center of town a ten dollar taxi ride from the cruise terminal. The town has a historical church, old adobe residences and shops, tropical flowers and cobblestones streets. It is a fun place to wander. All of it is close to a large, beautiful, active beach which has pretty good sized surf and blowing winds. This is a tropical city so expect heat and humidity, but there are blowing breezes and plenty of shade in the alamedas and alleyways. Great place to spend a day wandering.
