A bus ride with no explanation of what we were seeing (the driver was the guide and he didn't speak English); we went to a Great House and were treated to shopping; to another place and treated to a view and shopping; and back to the ship. Very disappointing,

During Carnival. It was very crowded but the floats were fascinating. We took a tour to Petropolis. Great tour, and excellent lunch. Drinks were free because we had to wait, and it was a lovely view. The second day in Rio we did not take a tour, but walked down town.

Walked to the downtown and shopped in modern and clean facilities. Took a tour of the Jewish synagogs and holocaust memorial. Excellent, and our guide was extremely informative. Beautiful city.

Lovely city. Took a city tour and visited Cathedrals, churches, and cemetaries as well as given time to shop and view the plaza. This is a beautiful city and people were delightful

Took two tours. One a small boat to several different islands where we saw cormorants and sea lions in abundance with an excellent guide to narrate. Do wear a jacket, it is cold on the top of the boat. The second was a city tour, a train ride, and a stop at the post office at the farthest end of the continentent. Again well narriated, great views, and interesting history.

Not a happy adventure. Long bus ride to a penguin reserve and few if any penguins. Evidently they had left several weeks before. We should have been told. A real negative - took all day and we saw little or nothing and no water was offered.

Puntarenas (Puerto Caldera)
Zip-Lining Rating: 5+ out of 5+
Guides were fluent in English. Highly safety conscious. Excellent photographers. Well planned; well excuted; one of the most exciting highlights. This is my first Zip line and it was wonderful.

Went to two places. One an archelogical site which I cannot spell. Fantastic and interesting. They even held it open for the tour buses as we were late getting there. Second was to the Peruvian Prancing Horses at a Hacienda, That was amazing. The dinner was something that Princess Cruises could learn from - it was superior to any I had aboard ship. The entertainment was excellent. The whole experience was a cruise plus.
